NWCDC has had a contract to manage, operate and maintain the Pequannock Watershed property since 1974; responsibilities include but are not limited to property tax payments, tax appeals, recreational permits and land use control.

Since March 1, 1998 NWCDC has the contract to manage, operate and maintain the City of Newark’s Pequannock Water Treatment Plant resulting in substantial savings to the City of Newark.

Since March 1, 2009 NWCDC has had the additional responsibility to manage, operate and maintain dams, outlets and inlet structures and gatehouses.

Since June 2009 NWCDC has been supporting the operation and routine spillways of the Pequannock aqueducts, distribution reservoirs, water pump stations, Montclair re-chlorination station and Cedar Grove Water Testing Laboratory.

Since June 2009 NWCDC has been providing the NJ Department of Environmental Protection Newark Water System licensed operator coverage and support.

NWCDC has hired Newark residents with no experience and has educated and trained them to become career water system operators with licenses, 80% of the work force of NWCDC are minorities.

NWCDC conducts repairs which need special skills utilizing it personnel resulting in substantial savings at the PWTP.
