NWCDC Fishing
Rules and Regulations
1. All persons who fish the Newark Watershed must have both a valid State of New Jersey Fishing License and a NWCDC fishing permit.
Permits are not transferable or refundable.
2. All of the laws (when applicable) as set forth in the most recent summary of New Jersey Fishing Laws must be observed.
3. All fishermen must be at least 18 years of age. Family permits are available for husband, wife and single children through age 17 living in the same home. Senior permits are offered for those 65 years or over.
4. Fishermen must carry their permit while fishing and should conspicuously display the NWCDC decal on their vehicles inside left rear window in the lower right hand corner.
5. Fishing and/ or boating is not permitted in the Watershed streams, on Charlottesburg Reservoir, Cedar Pond, Buckabear Pond, and Hanks Pond. As part of a pilot program, the stretch of the Pequannock River from the Oak Bridge downstream to the Railroad Bridge, immediately upstream of the Charlottesburg Reservoir, will be open to limited fishing on a daily basis only (Subject to closure).
The NO FISHING policy at Charlottesburg Reservoir remains in effect.
6. Due to "drought" conditions, and/or repairs, reservoirs will be opened or closed according to water levels.
7. No fires, swimming, littering, or unleashed pets are permitted while utilizing the fishing permit.
8. Vehicles are allowed only on designated parking areas and on the roads indicated on the accompanying map. Vehicles are not permitted to enter the exposed lake beds.
9. Shore fishing is prohibited at dams and spillways and Echo Lake Beach area while day camp is in session.
10. No fishing at the Echo Lake Beach area while the Day Camp is in operation.
